Its four faces carry road names, among them the Funabashi, Chiba-cho and Naritasan roads, each in the direction it points. The city says it was set up in 1881 and calls the spot the birthplace of the name Yotsukaido.

The Kamezaki music played at Kamezaki Kumano Shrine's annual festival was learned in the 1890s by Kamezaki and Uchikuroda villages from the music of Iwato and Funaho villages in Inba District. A farm skit based on folk tales once staged at a temple also survives, with kappa fishing and fox catching.
