From a limestone outcrop,an early Triassic ammonite was found.
In the Taho limestone of Shirokawa, the geologist Ono Sakutaro (大野作太郎) found an ammonite fossil in the Taisho era. Identification showed the Early Triassic Meekoceras beds, then confirmed for the first time in Japan, the prefectural record says.
