Hokkaidoite, primary type site01 ／ Locomotive 8622
Hokkaido Takushoku Railway began service between Shintoku and Shikaoi in 1928 and closed entirely in 1968. Locomotive 8622 was preserved with a donation from the second generation of the founder's family and contributions from residents, and became Town Designated Cultural Property No. 2 on April 1, 2009.
02 ／ Mt. Higashi-Nupukaushinupuri
The town's tradition, the White Snake Princess tale, says the two similar peaks to the north looked like a pair sitting together, so they were called the married mountains. The geopark says Mt. Higashi-Nupukaushinupuri was born of volcanic activity 60,000 to 10,000 years ago, and a mossy wind-cave zone begins about 15 minutes up the trail.
03 ／ White Snake Princess dance
The White Snake Princess dance was created in 1972 as a town-revitalization project of the Shikaoi Chamber of Commerce youth division, based on a legend about Lake Shikaribetsu. A preservation society formed the next year, and the dance became Town Designated Cultural Property No. 1 on April 1, 2009.

Living here
There is no railway station in the town. The Shikaoi-Shintoku-Shikaribetsuko Line of Takushoku Bus runs from the Shintoku Station stop to the Shikaoi Town Office stop in 26 minutes with no change. Services that do not run on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays are excluded, and the count uses the timetable revised in December 2025. The gateway is the Town Office.
