Ishi-no-Hoden (石の宝殿), the sacred body of Oushiko-jinja (生石神社), is a huge worked stone lying like a house on its side: about 6.5 metres across, 5.6 metres high, 7.5 metres deep, and some 500 tonnes. It stands in a pool of water and appears to float, so people call it the Floating Stone. It is counted among Japan's three great oddities.

This is the place behind the Noh song Takasago, sung at weddings: "At Takasago, we raise the sail on this shore." In the grounds of Takasago-jinja stands the sacred pine Aioi-no-matsu (相生の松), said to be the origin of the old couple in the song: one root, with male and female trunks parting left and right, long honoured as a symbol of marriage and lasting union.

In 1785, late in the Edo period, Kuraku Matsuemon of Takasago improved on the flimsy sailcloth of his day and wove it thick and wide. Matsuemon sails went onto the kitamaebune and other main vessels of the trade. His house was made a prefectural historic site in 2019, as the Takasago Horikawa port and the former Kuraku Matsuemon residence.
