01 / Founding monument

A monument brought by cart from Arakawaoki Station, said to have taken farmers about 7 days to move.

The torii of Kompira Shrine carries a straw snake, standing for the snakes driven out by the clearing. According to the town, the Suzuki Village founding monument for Suzuki Yasutake's land clearing was hauled from Arakawaoki Station by cart along muddy roads, and farmers who came daily with packed lunches took about 7 days to set it in place.

02 / Clay artifact

The iron-axe-shaped clay object copies a socketed iron axe and dates from the middle Kofun period (about 1,600 to 1,500 years ago). The town describes it as a tool used for rites and charms, made with great care as if faithfully reproducing the real thing. It was designated a town cultural property on 8 August 2019.
