The small hill known as Hitokago-yama and Otsuka-yama is an oval-shaped round tomb, 41 m east-west, 35 m north-south and 5 m high. In the 2012 investigation of the coffin, a boat-shaped wooden coffin about 8 m long yielded three yuki quivers and one dragon-pattern bronze mirror. The city records that the jade magatama and tubular beads are of jade from Itoigawa.

The prefecture's tourism site records that Murakami Tadakatsu, lord of Murakami Castle, sponsored its construction, and describes the style as a pure Japanese-style three-story pagoda with ornament left out inside and out. The Agency for Cultural Affairs dates it to the fifth year of Genna (1619) and describes a three-bay, three-story pagoda with a shingled roof. The nine-ring finial at the top bears an inscription of a reconstruction in the Jokyo era (1684-87). It is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property.
