The Kamigano burial mound cluster, on the right bank of the Uso River, once had 102 mounds, and ten are preserved in the park. Its stone chambers are of two kinds: the usual side-entrance type, and a stepped type thought to show the influence of continental culture. At a ruined temple site in the town, a wooden tablet was found with characters including Hata written over and over.

Nishizawa Shinzo was born in 1844 into a hemp-cloth wholesaler's family in a village in what is now Aisho. The Shidare Canal is an irrigation canal that carries water from the Yahagi River to about 1,600 ha in Toyota, Chiryu and Miyoshi. In 1887 the Mikawa Canal Office was opened, and Shinzo became its chairman. A study, however, notes that the canal was not built by one person alone.
