At Shanichi Inari Shrine, the kugatachi ritual dips sprigs of small bamboo grass in a large cauldron of boiling water before the altar and pours them over the whole body, as a vow of loyalty to the god and a way to seek an oracle. Held with the spring and autumn festivals since 1816, it became an Oizumi Town Intangible Cultural Property in 1979.
