Yoshioka was a post town on the Oshu and Dewa roads, where the domain gave no aid for the duty of carrying goods. Nine benefactors, including Kokudaya Juzaburo and Sugawaraya Tokuheiji, raised 1,000 ryo for the Sendai Domain, and Eishu Zuishi wrote how its interest saved the town.

The kitchen-and-living hall of Tennoji temple is thoughtto have been built around 1660.

The building served as the temple kitchen and the priests' home.
