Mimata Town isthis kind of town.

  1. 01Along an irrigation canal in Tadeike (蓼池), members of the Tadeike Area Green Conservation Association (蓼池地区緑保全会) have kept planting shibazakura (moss phlox) every year, and the town's site says it now stretches about 5.5km. Mt. Kirishima appears in the background.
  2. 02The Ushinotoge ronsho site (牛之峠論所跡) is where a stone pillar stands at a disputed border between the Kagoshima and Obi domains. The Taro Odori of Tani (谷の太郎踊り) is a dengaku (田楽) dance, and the town's site tells of 19 stone rice-field deity statues and the custom of "ottoi" (オットイ), borrowing one by taking it.
  3. 03Kajiyama has the Nisshu Kajiyama Banshoato (日州梶山番所跡), a town-designated historic site, and Kajiyama Bridge, a stone arch bridge built in 1941 and nicknamed the "Spectacles Bridge." In the Bon season, lanterns also hang from the eaves in Kajiyama.
