A Western-style lighthouse on a cliff about 84m above sea level at the southern tip of Oshima (大島). It was completed and first lit on August 15, 1884. The tower is unreinforced concrete with a regular 12-sided plan. The Agency for Cultural Affairs writes that, as the oldest Western-style lighthouse still standing in southern Kyushu, its value is high.
