Part of a stone embankment built over three generationshas been moved beside it and restored.

This embankment stands at Tajima, where the Tenryu and Maezawa rivers meet. The Hachijuni Cultural Foundation records that three generations of the Matsumura family, Rihei Tadayoshi, Tsunemura and Tadayoshi, built it between 1750 and 1808. A stone embankment was found in 2010, and part of it was moved and restored. These roughly 40 m are a village-designated tangible cultural property.

The Tenryu River divides the village into east and west.

  • about 5,000 people
  • Rural district town

At the southern tip of Kamiina District, the village says the Tenryu River splits it into an east-bank district and a west-bank district. It was formed in 1958 by the merger of two villages, and its name was chosen from proposals by villagers. Its only station is Ina-Tajima on the Iida Line, its gateway.
