At Yamada-dera, the central gate, pagoda, main hall and lecture hall line up from south to north, with a corridor enclosing the pagoda and main hall. A survey from 1982 found the collapsed east corridor, and a display rebuilt from the excavated timbers stands in the Asuka Historical Museum, about 300 m to the west.

Two large mounds lay on the embankment of Kibiike Pond, made in the Edo period. Excavating the one at the southeast corner in 1997 showed a main hall platform 37 m east-west and 28 m north-south, and the pagoda platform is 30 m on a side. The tourism association sets this beside Yamada-dera's main hall, about 21 m by 18 m.
