Oma Port was built in the mid-Meiji era to carry ore, coal and other materials in and out of the Sado mine. The prefecture writes that seawalls made with the tataki method, which combines stonework with tataki, a kneaded mix of slaked lime and soil, remain. The Oma district is part of the area added to the national Historic Site of the Sado Gold and Silver Mines.

The Noh stage stands in the grounds of Daizen Shrine, a hip-roofed thatched building designated a prefectural Tangible Folk Cultural Property. An ink inscription on the back of the old back panel shows that the present building was rebuilt in 1846. The city writes that a regular Noh performance is held at the festival on April 18 each year.

Sado City isthis kind of town.

  1. 01Sasagawa settlement in Nishimikawa came to be called Sasagawa Juhachimai-mura, the city writes, because it paid 18 pieces of gold to the Uesugi clan in a month at the end of the Warring States period
  2. 02The Nishimikawa placer gold mine retains waterway ruins called Kinzan-e, 12 km in total, and Fukiage coast in Aikawa has a quarry site where stone for mine millstones was cut
  3. 03At Shukunegi, the Nenbutsu Bridge and a second stone bridge are said to have been built by a mason, using stone a shipowner brought from Onomichi on a return voyage along the western sea route

If something caught your eye, ask the town itself.
