In shallow water off the east and south of Oha Island, many Chinese celadon and white-glazed tableware from the late 14th to early 15th century lie scattered, together with jars from China and Southeast Asia. The same kind of ceramics was also unearthed in large numbers at land sites such as Uegusuku Castle Site, and the site became a national Registered Monument in 2026.

This town-designated historic site stands in Torishima district. People who moved from the island of Io-Torishima put sand from its seven utaki, sacred sites, into a jar, took it to their new home as the sacred object, and made it their place of prayer. A monument in the grounds records how the move came about.
