At the Shimoyakebe Remains beside the Kita River, 70 lacquer-tree trunks were found reused as posts, and 43 of them carry scratch marks running all the way around. These are thought to be traces of lacquer tapping. Pots that held lacquer sap and stone dishes used to grind red pigment were also unearthed.

At Baigan-ji Temple in Kumegawa-cho, large zelkova trees stand along the inside of the wall on the south side of the grounds, and the one beside the main gate is a Tokyo Metropolitan Natural Monument. It is 27.0 m tall with a trunk 7.3 m around. The Edo-period gazetteer Shinpen Musashi Fudokiko also records old trees at the gate, and the metropolitan government says this suggests the tree was already well known then.

The city's list of fifty townscape views says that in 1967 a library in a yellow train was made inside a housing estate through the efforts of citizens. Since 2001, after the estate was rebuilt, the Kumegawa Train Library has been run from a second-generation yellow Seibu train car.
