Around 1890, a lump of iron weighing about 22 kg was found in the upper Kamiichi River (上市川). Once it was identified as a meteorite, Enomoto Takeaki bought it, and in 1898 had the swordsmith Okayoshi Kunimune make two long swords and three short swords called Ryuseito (流星刀, "meteor swords"), presenting one long sword to the Crown Prince. The meteorite is now at the National Museum of Nature and Science, and one short sword at the Toyama Science Museum.

At Ananotan (穴の谷) in the Kurokawa district, water keeps welling up beside a statue of Yakushi Nyorai in the Yakushi Kannon hall, at the bottom of 108 stone steps down from the approach path. It became a sacred site after the monk Hakushin of Mino Province trained here in the Edo period, and it was chosen as one of Japan's 100 Exquisite and Well-Conserved Waters (名水百選) in 1985. The water is also used to make sake, miso and soy sauce.
