Stone cut from the Kioroshi shell bedwas laid into the Kamijuku Tumulus chamber.

The Kioroshi shell bed is a sand layer deposited about 120,000 years ago in the ancient Tokyo Bay, and a national Natural Monument. Its outcrop hardens at the surface, and it was used for tomb chamber stones. The horizontal-entry stone chamber of the Kamijuku Tumulus, a city historic site, is built of stone cut from it; the mound is estimated to be a 7th-century square one.
