According to the prefecture, in 1819 a net owner enshrined a branch of Yasaka Shrine from Matsunosato, Togane. The Edo fish-market wholesaler he traded with donated a portable shrine, and local eldest sons were taught a lion dance to lead it, which is said to be the start. Konyo's sweet potato trials ran at three sites.A field in Fudodo Village was one.

According to the prefecture, trials directed by Aoki Konyo were held at Koishikawa in Edo, Mageka Village in Shimosa and Fudodo Village in Kazusa. Fudodo was shogunal land, and farmers guided through officials tried it, but results seem to have fallen short of Mageka's. A stone monument stands there now.
