01 / Torihama Tunnel

Water was brought to a dry plainthrough channels cut in the rock.

The Torihama plain lacked water, and the Kinko town cultural property map records that a weir was built on the Kamikawa River and a channel cut through bedrock. Narrow culverts (tunnels), 120 cm high and wide, were made in several places, and 18 cho of paddies came to be. It is a town-designated historic site.

02 / Ohnejime Telegraph Station Site

The telegraph station was set up at Ohama,then moved to Shiromoto.

According to the cultural property map, the Ohama Telegraph Station was established at Ohama, Nejime, in August 1896 (Meiji 29). A submarine cable on a fixed military telegraph line was laid to Taiwan during the Sino-Japanese War, and in 1903 the station moved to Shiromoto and was renamed the Ohnejime Telegraph Station. It is a town-designated historic site.

03 / Kamikawa Ootaki Falls

Clear water from the Hangeseki Gorgethreads the cliffs and falls 25 m.

The town writes that clear water flowing out of the Hangeseki Gorge threads between sheer cliffs to form Kamikawa Ootaki Falls, 25 m high and 30 m wide. It lies in a mountain fold of the Kunimi range on the Osumi Peninsula, which keeps its primeval forest.
