01 / Former Sata Medicinal Garden

Planting a longan tree given to the lordis said to be where the garden began.

This national Historic Site is in Izashiki. The Agency for Cultural Affairs writes that it originated in a longan tree presented to the domain lord in Jokyo 4, which was planted here, and that medicinal plants were also grown in the Horeki and Meiwa years. The Horikiri garden had 28 longan trees at the time of designation.

02 / Sata Misaki Festival

The portable shrine has been carriedfrom settlement to settlement, as a relay.

This is a prefecture-designated Intangible Folk Cultural Property. The town tourism site writes that the settlements take turns carrying the procession, which leaves Misaki Shrine early in the morning and reaches Chikatsunomiya Shrine in the evening. The prefecture's public relations magazine describes the festival as the younger deity of Misaki Shrine going about 20 km to greet the elder deity of Chikatsunomiya Shrine for the new year.

03 / Ogawa Falls

The Japan Tourism Agency's guide text gives the Ogawa Falls as 60 m wide and 46 m high. At the end of the trail, water flows in tiers over geometric rock and falls into the pool. When conditions are right the pool turns a vivid emerald green, most often seen in periods of low rainfall.
