Inside the ring of the pommel, twin dragons face each other holding a jewel, rendered in openwork. Hidaka Village isthis kind of town.

  1. 01Nagoya Submersible Bridge (名越屋沈下橋) spans the lowest reach of the Niyodo River, linking Hidaka and the town of Ino. It is 191 m long and is an everyday local road, but it sinks under the river when floods raise the water, hence the name "chinka-bashi" (submersible bridge).
  2. 02Omura Shrine is placed as the second shrine of Tosa Province, and its sacred sword, the gilt-bronze ring-pommel sword, is a National Treasure. It can be viewed only at the autumn festival on November 15, and the cedar behind it carries a tradition of glowing before an emergency. A building of the former Matsuoka brewery serves as the Hidaka Sakagura Hall.
  3. 03At the autumn festival of Shiro Hachiman Shrine in Okiname, the Hanatori sword dance is dedicated. Sarutado is a limestone cave with a legend that the ninja Kusaka Mohei trained there, and Mt. Otaki is a 247 m mountain where many ascetics once trained, with more than 30 stone Buddhas scattered across it.
