A Prefectural Historic Site. The Hachijuni Cultural Foundation's Shinshu Cultural Properties says the stone wall completed in Keian 1 (1648) forms its core and keeps remains of its rebuilding well. The tourist association says it was a hazardous stretch of the old Nakasendo, that the wooden bridge of the time does not survive, and that a stone wall built over 400 years ago remains.

02 / Daidai Kagura of Komagatake Shrine

A permanent kagura stage faces the main hall, with a program of thirteen pieces.

The Agency for Cultural Affairs describes it as a kind of torimono kagura: a sacred pole hung with a mirror and sword stands at the front of the stage, and the program has thirteen pieces, including Iwato Kaibu. The Hachijuni Cultural Foundation's Shinshu Cultural Properties gives May 3 and the third Sunday of June, and says the form is said to have been mostly fixed by the end of the mid-Tokugawa period.

The tourist association says the falls lie along the Nakasendo and drop about 15 m. Old land registers keep parcels thought to mark the Nakasendo's course, which ran much closer to the plunge pool than today's national highway. JR tracks cross above the stream, and the falls count among the Kiso Eight Views as Ono no Bakufu.
