The gate of Niigata Prefectural Kamo Agriculture and Forestry High School was built in 1904 as the gate of its predecessor, an agricultural and forestry school. The Second Lamp Room, built in 1907, is a brick building where lamps used in the dormitory were stored when lights went out, and cleaned and refuelled. In 2022 both became Registered Tangible Cultural Properties (buildings) of Japan.

02 / Kamo paper

Washi once paid in place of part of the rice taxis carried on through the city's revival project.

Kamo paper is washi made in the Nanatani area, which the Kamo city history says was produced as official paper for the Muramatsu domain from before the Kanei era (1624-44). After 1993, no one was making it for production, and in 2012 the city launched a revival project and recruited ten people to carry on the craft.

In 1757, when the hillside was cleared to rebuild the shrine buildings on the order of Mizoguchi Naoatsu, lord of the Shibata domain, a sutra cylinder and a jar came out of a stone enclosure at the foot of a large cedar. The cylinder is inscribed "Jisho 2, sixth month, 24th day" and is designated by the prefecture. The nightingale-floor corridor of the same year is city-designated; the shrine records that it makes a sound like a bush warbler when walked on.
