Spanning about 38ha at roughly 1,000m elevation on the Chojabaru plain (長者原), this is one of Japan's largest mid-elevation moors. On November 8, 2005, it was registered as a Ramsar wetland together with Bogatsuru (坊ガツル), under the name 'Kuju Bogatsuru and Tadewara Wetland.' A boardwalk loop takes about 15 minutes, and over 100 kinds of flowers bloom from spring to autumn.

02 / Sujiyu Onsen's Utase Bath

At this communal bathhouse (共同浴場) in Sujiyu Onsen, 18 jets of hot water fall from about 3m high on each side. The name Sujiyu ('muscle water') is said to come from how the spring eases stiff shoulders and sore muscles, and locals have long called it 'Japan's best utaseyu.' Records point to the spring opening in 958.

Deep in the Kyusuikei gorge (九酔渓, also called the Naruko-gawa valley), the male fall Odaki (83m) and female fall Medaki (93m) together form Shindo Falls (震動の滝), one of Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls. The name is said to come from how the roar makes the surroundings feel as if they are shaking. The falls can also be seen from the Kokonoe 'Yume' Otsurihashi bridge.
