Dancers in rooster-shaped caps leaparound a hexagonal lantern.

This prefectural intangible folk cultural property is handed down in Kanegasawa. The two lead figures wear horned helmets, and the dancers wear rooster-shaped caps. They enter the ground to flutes, drums, small gongs and sasara, and there are three programs: the rooster dance, the seven tools and sansa.

Living here

No railway station; reach it by two buses from Hachinohe Station.

  • about 2,000 people

There is no railway station in the village. The village guide has visitors take a Nanbu Bus from Hachinohe Station to Gonohe Station bus stop, change to the Kanegasawa line and ride to the terminal Kanegasawa stop, five minutes on foot from the village office. Because the connecting buses are not very convenient, it suggests a rental car. The population is 1,911 (30 September 2026).
