This is the epitaph of Ino Manari, a student who went to Tang China with a Japanese mission in 717, aged 19. It was discovered in Xian, China. His original surname is thought to be Fujii or Inoue, both immigrant clans said to have been based near Fujiidera. His homeland is not settled, but the city says a leading candidate lies within it. The photo shows a replica.

In the late Meiji era, stone was being dug from the top of the rear mound in Tsudo village for a monument, and a huge stone coffin appeared. The Imperial Household Agency has designated the top of the rear mound as the Fujiidera Ryobo Sankochi, a tomb reference site. A replica of the coffin stands on the grounds, and the waterfowl-shaped haniwa, an Important Cultural Property, are shown at another facility.
