  1. 01The Japy Crash Monument is a stone marker for the French aviator André Japy, who crashed on Mt. Sefuri (脊振山) in November 1936 during a prize flight from Paris to Tokyo. It was erected in 1966. Residents of the former Sefuri Village rescued him, and he survived.
  2. 02Kanzaki has held a sister-city agreement with Beaucourt (ボークール市), France, since 1996. The former Sefuri Village made it, 60 years after the rescue, with the aviator's hometown.
  3. 03On the border between Kanzaki and Yoshinogari lies the Yoshinogari Site (吉野ヶ里遺跡), a Yayoi-period moated settlement, and the Jobaru River (城原川) has 13 grass weirs and 9 nokoshi overflow points. Niibiyama (仁比山) also has the Suisha-no-sato (水車の里, Water Mill Village) and the former residence of Ito Genboku (伊東玄朴), and Chiyoda has local events such as the Ane no Shichifukujin (姉の七福神), the Oshima Mizukake Festival (大島の水かけまつり) and the Takashi Kyogen (高志狂言).
