Yoshinogari Town isthis kind of town.

  1. 01Hamaguri Suido (蛤水道) is a 1,260 m waterway that draws water from the Ono River (大野川), which flowed from Mount Hamaguri (蛤岳) toward Chikuzen (the Fukuoka side), and supplies irrigation water to the Tade River basin. Through its "Nokoshi" (野越し) overflows, surplus water also drops into the Ono River system.
  2. 02It is said to have been built by Naritomi Hyogo Shigeyasu (成富兵庫茂安, 1560-1634), a senior retainer of the Saga domain called the "god of flood control." He took part in more than a hundred projects, including embankments, water gates, canals and reservoirs. The Japan Society of Civil Engineers and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism date its completion to the Genna era, the town to the Keicho era; the Hyogo Festival is held before the Suiko Monument each year in early May.
  3. 03The town holds the Special Historic Site Yoshinogari Site (吉野ヶ里遺跡, Yoshinogari Historical Park), which spans Kanzaki City as well. A map of the grounds of Tomyo-ji (東妙寺) and Myoho-ji (妙法寺) on either side of the Tade River is a national Important Cultural Property.
