01 / Goi Kofun

Inside the burial chamber stands a shrineto the fire god Akiba-sama, still tended by locals.

This round tomb of the late 6th to early 7th century has a horizontal stone chamber with a single side passage. The shrine in the burial chamber is dedicated to the fire god "Akiba-sama" (秋葉様), and local people keep up its rites. Tomb No. 2, thought to be keyhole-shaped, adjoins it. Only Tomb No. 1 is open to visit freely, and the local museum has a half-scale model of the chamber.

02 / Kogyoji

An exclave ringed by Yanai, Hikari and Iwakuni,where locals protect the Gifu butterfly.

Kogyoji is an exclave of Tabuse surrounded by Yanai, Hikari and Iwakuni. About 2.4 km² of it is a town-designated natural monument for the Gifu butterfly (ギフチョウ); Sanyo-aoi grows wild and the satoyama environment has been kept up. The butterfly can be seen from early to late April.

03 / Ohano Kanmai

A kagura dance known from an inscribed gong to exist by 1781is handed down in four districts.

This kagura is handed down in four districts of Ohano: the upper, middle and lower groups and the exclave of Kogyoji. Every 5 years it is performed in one of the districts, and every 10 years at Yahata Hachimangu Shrine (八幡八幡宮), where 14 pieces are performed at the grand festival. An inscription on the gong shows it existed by 1781.

The town measures 8 km east to west and 15.2 km north to south, with mountains in the northwest and a flat urban area in the center. Small streams from the hills join to form the Tabuse River, which runs through the middle of town and flows into the Seto Inland Sea to the south. The cherry trees along the river host the Tabuse Cherry Blossom Festival.
