The offering of bonden, tall decorated festival standards, at Izusan Shrine has gone on for over 180 years. With no bridge, the only way across was by boat, and even after Ōmagari Bridge opened in 1977 and the ferry ended the next year, the bonden still cross the Omono River by boat. Among bonden offerings, the city says, this is the only one that crosses a river.
