The house built for prospective settlers to viewhas a big triangular roof.

Designed by the national corporation that built the new farming village, it went up in 1969 as a house to show prospective settlers: two storeys of concrete block and timber. The Agency for Cultural Affairs says its big triangular roof creates a characteristic landscape of the Hachirōgata reclaimed land. It became a Registered Tangible Cultural Property on 6 March 2024.

Ogata Village has a point where the lines of 40 degrees north and 140 degrees east meet, and a marker tower stands there. The village calls a point where latitude and longitude meet at whole numbers a latitude-longitude intersection. It also says that certificates of arrival are issued at the village's reclamation museum.

03 / Community hall

To let visitors see the reclaimed land, the hall was given a six-storey tower.

The hall was built in 1969, the year of the Akita Agricultural Exposition, north of the village office building. So that visitors could look over the reclaimed land from a height, Akita Prefecture added a six-storey observation tower. The Agency for Cultural Affairs describes it as a hall standing on the axis of a planned town, and it became a Registered Tangible Cultural Property on 10 February 2026.
