01 / Garden

Three windows of the annex Shimuan arestained glass by Ogawa Sanchi.

Masaharu, the ninth head of the Miyakoshi family, built the annex Shimuan at Oppetsu in 1920. The town says three of its windows were commissioned from Ogawa Sanchi as stained glass. The windows of the cooling parlor show the passing seasons through flowering trees on four shoji panels. The garden, Seisen-en, is a nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty, designated on 17 February 2026.

02 / Fishing boat

Its bottom joins three cypress boards, and its bow is flat: a Kodomari coast boat.

According to the prefecture, the Kodomari Kittsu-bune is a coastal fishing boat with a hollowed bottom and planked sides, its bottom joined from three Hiba cypress boards. Because Kodomari Bay is calm, the bow is flat. It was used to work the shore for abalone, turban shells and sea squirts. It is a prefectural tangible folk cultural property, kept at the Shimomae branch of the Nakadomari Town Museum.
