A nationally designated historic site. Kilns 1 and 2 of the Dogaeri Kiln Site (堂がへり窯跡) fired tiles for the Buzen Provincial Temple (Buzen Kokubunji, 豊前国分寺) in the late 8th century, and on the flat ground to the north remain two large post-set buildings, about 30 m long and 6 m wide at the core, thought to be tile workshops. Regarded as one of the few kiln sites whose whole layout is clear, with kilns and workshops together, it is now a park with a workshop reconstructed.

To a pond garden made for viewing from the reception room, a tea room, tatami rooms and a great hall were added in a staggered line (ganko-gata) so its varied views could be enjoyed.
