Gunma Prefecture 甘楽郡A Basho verse is carved by the gorge.
Semi Valley, Basho monument01 ／ Hoshio Puppets
The set has 51 costumes, 41 heads and 2 masks. It is owned by the Hoshio community and kept at the Nanmoku Village Folk Museum. The village records that the heads remain as first made and are typical of the old Edo-style heads. It was designated in 1978 as a village Important Tangible Folk Cultural Property.
02 ／ Ohinata Hitoboshi
On Ohinata Bridge over the Nanmoku River, straw bundles tied to ropes 2 to 3 m long are set alight and swung, two or three people at a time. The village records that it is said to pass down the joy of helping the Takeda forces when Takeda Shingen's army invaded Joshu in 1561.
03 ／ Pictures and Documents of Todoyama
The village-designated whetstone mountain picture set, with two pictures and cutting tools, is a Bunka-era diagram of the quarry and its tools, kept at the Folk Museum and the Natural History Museum. A separate set of documents is listed by the village as 59 old papers on whetstone for the Ueno Storehouse (18 booklets, 41 loose papers).

The village has no railway station. Its official access guide says to leave the Joshin-etsu Expressway at Shimonita IC, take Route 254 toward Shimonita, and reach Nanmoku in about 20 minutes. The area is 118.83 km², and elevation ranges from 320 m to 1,442 m.
