The town's library promotion plan says the library, which opened in November 1984, achieved No. 1 in Japan in loans per resident in fiscal 1985, and then for seven straight years from fiscal 1987 to fiscal 1993, eight times in total.
02 ／ Kitami Agricultural Experiment Station
The Hokkaido Research Organization says the station mainly researches field crops (wheat and barley, potatoes, sugar beets) and pasture grass. Set up in 1907 in a village now part of Kitami City, it completed its move to Kunneppu Town in 1959. Its main building stands on a hilltop in the Yayoi district, about 4 km northwest of the town center.
03 ／ Bridge over the Tokoro River
The town's 2017 outline booklet says the bridge over the Tokoro River links the built-up area with a neighboring district. It replaced a bridge completed in 1909, became a reinforced concrete bridge in 1934, and was rebuilt in 1996. A bell that can be rung in hope of dreams coming true, the Bell of Dawn, and four bronze statues decorate it.

The town says Kunneppu is an inland basin ringed by mountains, with large temperature swings, annual rainfall of about 700 mm, and sunshine rates among the highest in Japan. The town's 2017 outline booklet says field crops and dairy farming thrive here, and the town is called a miniature of Hokkaido agriculture.
