The Five Hundred Rakan of Hojo, at Rakan-ji (羅漢寺), number 459 stone figures. People have long said that among all those different faces one always resembles your parent or your child. They are thought to date from the early 17th century, made when Sagami-ji was rebuilt, and became a prefectural cultural property in 2018.

The three-storey pagoda of Ichijo-ji (一乗寺) on Mount Hokke is a National Treasure. An inscription on its finial bowl reads 1171, making it the oldest surviving pagoda in Hyogo. Old forms and newer techniques sit side by side in it, down to the slight upward curve of the third roof.

In 2016 the city passed the Balloon-Flying Town of Kasai Ordinance: the mild weather and varied local winds suit ballooning. Under the same sky stood the Uzurano airfield (鶉野飛行場) of the Himeji naval air group, for about three years from 1943 to the end of the war.
