The castle stood on a plateau jutting into Kojo Pond (Moriya Pond), with a main enclosure and second and third enclosures. The city says it is widely held that Chiba Tsunetane's son Morotsune took over the Soma clan and built it here, but with no records, this cannot be asserted.

03 / Gion Festival

Great banners rise, so it is called the Banner Festival, and the mikoshi is lowered to the ground.

The Gion Festival of Yasaka Shrine is also called the Banner Festival because great banners are raised. The portable shrine is lowered twice almost to the ground at places such as where the banners stand, then raised high, a motion called "momu" (to jostle). Five floats each carry a revolving stage.
