Behind a memorial stele raised in 1910 in the temple grounds stands the prefecturally designated historic site of Mamiya Rinzo's grave. The city board of education records that he built it, prepared for death, before leaving for the Karafuto expedition: a small commoner's grave 53 cm high. His birthplace is also a prefectural historic site, moved and restored on its present ground in 1971.

Tsunabi joins puppets with set-piece fireworks: ropes stretched through the air are worked so that puppets move to the music. Its other names are “Sanbon-tsuna” and “mechanical puppet fireworks.” Two schools, Obari Matsushita and Takaoka, survive in the city, and in 1976 it was designated a National Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property.

The city board of education records that new-field development began in 1624 and produced fine paddies known as “Yahara 30,000 koku.” A weir built at Yamada Marsh to supply their irrigation water was later moved downstream to the Fukuoka district and became the Fukuoka Weir, which, it says, still plays an important part in the city's farming.
