01 / Masuyama Canal

Finished in 1768,the canal still waters Masuyama's paddies.

The Masuyama Canal was completed in the Meiwa era (1768). It runs north to south through Kaseda Fumoto from the Atago weir on the Kaseda River, and has watered the paddies of the Masuyama district. The view of crossing a stone bridge over the canal and passing through a samurai gate has, according to the city board of education's outline, not changed in 250 years.

02 / Manose River mouth

The national natural monument covering the hamabo colony and tidal-flat organisms at the Manose River mouth was designated on 6 February 2007. According to the prefectural museum, the mouth has a broad tidal flat, and hamabo stands over about 1 km. It is also among Japan's largest habitats of the fiddler crab Austruca lactea.

03 / Kakoinohara site

Hearths of slabs set in a boat shapewere found at a hilltop site.

The Kakoinohara site is a multi-period site layered from the Incipient Jomon period to the medieval Omori Castle, and was designated a National Historic Site in 1997. Four stone-lined hearths were found, two of them boat-shaped hearths made of welded-tuff slabs, and the Satsuma volcanic ash that covered the site helped preserve it.
