The Yurugi-ishi stands on the temple's tour of ascetic sites at Kasagidera. The designation text for the National Historic Site and Place of Scenic Beauty Mount Kasagi lists a "shaking stone" and a "drum stone" among its strange rocks. The prefecture's website says that pressing the pointed right end down makes it rock with a "gotogoto", while pushing or pulling anywhere else does nothing.

  • Only the pointed right end rocks

Homyo-ji stands on a rise along the old Iga road on the north bank of the Kizu River, and its Yakushido is a thatched hall three bays wide across the front. It is thought to date back at least to the first half of the early-modern period. The Prefectural Board of Education calls it the only building in the southern Yamashiro area dating back to the very start of the early-modern period; it was registered by the prefecture in 1994.

  • Thatched, three bays across the front
  • Thought to date to the early-modern period or earlier

  3. 03The Ariichi tea fields and cableway platform site are components of the Japan Heritage story on 800 years of Japanese tea; the town says Kasagi Beach was where sailing boats could go no farther upstream, and the Asukaji submersible bridge sinks under the river when it rises.
