The Nara-period barrier's earthen wallis estimated at about 3 m high and 650 m long.

Suzuka no Seki was one of the three barriers called the Sangen, along with Fuwa no Seki in Gifu Prefecture and Arachi no Seki in Fukui Prefecture, facilities by which the ritsuryo state controlled traffic. Excavations begun in 2006 found part of a tile-roofed earthen wall thought to date from the mid-8th century, and the site was designated a National Historic Site in March 2021.

Kagami-iwa, the "mirror rock" on Suzuka Pass, is a quartzite face 2.2 m high and 2 m wide, and a Prefectural Natural Monument. Its sheen is uneven: the brightest part is bluish-black, and some faces have weathered to reddish brown. The local tourist association also relates a story of bandits who attacked travelers whose figures showed in the rock.
