Kiribori turns a half-round blade to cut round holes, and dogubori cuts a pattern in a single stab with a blade shaped like a triangle or cherry blossom. Tsukibori moves the blade point forward in short cuts, and shimabori cuts straight lines along a ruler (city pamphlet). A group holding these techniques, together with the thread reinforcement of the stencils (itoire), was certified in 1993.

Koichi, a steward, was one of the 17 men who sailed from Shiroko, and he died at Nemuro after getting home that far. His belongings were handed down to his wife, Ken. Thirteen items, including a comb, spoon, knife, pipe and shoes, and three copper coins survive. The provincial capital of Ise Province had been thought to lie in Kokufu-cho, from the place name, but excavations from 1992 showed it was in Hirose-cho, and it became a National Historic Site in 2002. The government compound, from the mid-Nara to the early Heian period, was enclosed by an earthen wall about 80 m east to west and 110 m north to south. The Ise Kokubunji Temple site in Kokubun-cho, designated in 1922, opened as a historical park in 2020.
