01 / Yakage-juku
The honjin and the waki-honjin both survive as Important Cultural Properties, and the honjin grounds hold storehouses built for brewing sake.

In the Edo period, Yakage was a post town on the Sanyodo, with a honjin and a waki-honjin, the official inns where daimyo stayed. The Ishii family of the former honjin also brewed sake, and its sake storehouse and inner storehouse still stand. The Takakusa family of the waki-honjin prospered in money lending and as the domain's treasury agents. Bunka Isan Online says it is the only place in Japan where both survive as Important Cultural Properties.
