Pond water and foot trafficpass under the railway through brick arches.
Seven brick culverts lie in the embankment of the Koya Line between Sayama and Osakasayamashi stations. When the railway opened in 1898 (Meiji 31), they were built as waterways and passages so that the flow of water from Sayamaike Pond and the movement of people would not be cut off. Five can be walked through and two carry water only. No. 7 is a skew arch known as nejiri-manpo.
