In a place called Daikumura, the senbakoki is recorded as invented.
The Takashinohama 1-chome area was Takaishi-kita Village in the Edo period. Most residents worked as carpenters, and part of it was called Daikumura, meaning Carpenters' Village. The city board of education's historic-sites guide records that the senbakoki, a threshing tool, was invented there in the Genroku era (1688-1704). A monument honoring the carpenters called Koshi no Takumi was raised in 1974.
