The Kakita River (柿田川), flowing through the centre of town, is fed by spring water from Mt. Fuji, about 1.1 million cubic metres a day. At about 1.2 km it is the shortest class-A river in Japan. The water stays around 15°C all year, and the river is a designated Natural Monument.
