01 / Water channel

Admitted to the irrigation association,they began digging in 1706.

Short of water, the farmers of Higashimizunuma asked their lord in 1690 for a share of the Itado irrigation channel, and were refused. After continued negotiation they were admitted to the Itado irrigation association in 1706, and work on the channel began. The headman Okada Sozan put in his own money, and in 1806, the channel's 100th anniversary, his great-grandson raised a monument.

02 / Memorial towers

Memorial towers for the tenth shogun, Ieharu,stand on a terrace above the Gogyo River.

On the terrace east of the Gogyo River, at the site of Hannya-ji Temple (founded 820), stand a memorial tower to Tokugawa Ieharu (424 cm tall) and one to Tayasu Munetake (313 cm), facing south. Ieharu's adopted daughter Tane, Munetake's daughter, had them built, and both bear the hollyhock crest. A memorial tablet records Ieharu's last wish, entrusting prayers to Tane.

03 / Tumulus

On a tumulus like a crawling turtle cub,a shrine stands.

Built at the eastern end of the Hoshakuji plateau between the Gogyo and Kinu rivers, this tumulus looks like a crawling turtle cub, and has long been called Turtle-Cub Hill. It is about 56.3 m long. Gyoji Shrine is enshrined on its summit, and an approach path runs from the narrow waist of the mound to the end of the front section. It is thought to date from the early Kofun period.

There is no JR station in town. The town directs visitors from the east exit of Utsunomiya Station to the Haga Industrial Park Management Center stop in town, about 40 minutes, and the town office is about 5 km from there. From the transit center, a 5-minute walk away, visitors continue by on-demand taxi or similar. The on-demand taxi Fureai Taxi Hibari requires prior registration. Children's medical care is free from birth until the end of the school year in which they turn 18.
