At the eastern edge of Yamaguchi, the town covers 10.58 km². It faces Ōtake in Hiroshima Prefecture to the north and the Seto Inland Sea to the east, and about half of it is forest. The Ose River was a stage of the Second Chōshū expedition (the Shikyō war). Ties from settlers who left Waki Village for Hokkaido around 1886 made it a sister city of Eniwa in 1979. The community bus "Aiai Bus" runs from Waki Station.
