Built in 1892 as the Magata Fukuin-kai Chapel, this single-storey timber chapel is made of fine Akita cedar. Over the sanctuary, an octagonal dome rests on arches on all four sides. Curving a domed ceiling in Akita cedar is said to be very difficult. It was designated a prefectural Tangible Cultural Property in 1966.

This U-shaped wetland of 6.6 ha lies on a terrace of pyroclastic-flow plateau, 6 km north of central Ōdate. The lowland wetlands once common here have been lost to paddy fields, pasture and housing. Shibayachi's remained, and has produced many wetland plants such as wild irises. Insect-eating plants such as sundews are another feature.

Kochia (Bassia scoparia) seeds are harvested in autumn and dried, then boiled, hulled, washed, sorted and drained in that order. Foreign matter is removed, leaving only the dark green seeds. The Hinai district is the main home of the technique, which became a nationally registered Intangible Folk Cultural Property in 2025. The name is said to come from grains resembling buriko, the roe of the sandfish (hatahata).
